What a Fantastic Children’s Costume Party! 

The other day my sons and I went to the most fantastic children’s costume party you can ever imagine.

The theme was an underwater world party, and all 20 children were dressed up in the most amazing array of kid’s costumes you have ever seen. The backyard had some themed areas for the kids to play, including a giant Octopus slide, but what made it fantastic were all the children running around in their dress up costumes.

There were Octopuses, Sharks, Dolphins, Sea turtles, Nemo, lots of great Mermaids and believe it or not even a Jelly fish.

All the children took it in turns to swim with each other in their imaginary ocean while other children chased them around pretending to eat them up. They had imaginary swimming races and went looking for sea treasure in the garden.

The shark was pretending to be a very scary sea creature one minute and then saving nemo the next.

Kids absolutely love dramatic play so to have them all dressed up being able to role play different sea creatures was great fun for them and extremely funny for the onlookers as well. Some of the children even swapped costumes during the course of the party so they could have a turn at dressing up as a different sea creatures.

My sons could not stop talking about the party all week and have already decided that they too are going to have a huge kids dress up party for there next birthdays.

One of my sons wants to have a Tarzan party theme with lots of jungle animal costumes, and says he is going to dress up as a Gorilla, ( I guess I better start looking for that one ). And my other son has chosen a fairy party! (Yep you guessed it is dad was thrilled about that).

I certainly think that a theme for a kids party, where they can all dress up in different children’s costumes is a great idea. It really appeals to their sense of adventure and imagination, and as we all remember from when we were kids, it is really fun to play dress ups.
